POSITIVE THINKING PIX OCEAN

Everywhere we read and hear – think positive and you will get positive results. Think negative and you will get negative results.

I’d like to share a version of that thinking which works for me.

When you encounter a situation or problem,

Think positively three times!

The first time is to accept that the problem is real,

The second time is to affirm that it can be solved,

The third time is to acknowledge that YOU are the one who can solve it.

Think positively three times!

Being positive is the key to solving any problem.

SELFLOVEPIX“THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER YOU.”

How many times have we heard that expression? It is most probably one that we say to a loved one. But what if we were to say it to ourselves?

It doesn’t matter whether our struggle to love ourselves was born of difficult circumstances or through emotional, physical or spiritual assault – the wound is still great.  For many of us, loving ourselves is our greatest emotional problem.

Let’s take a look at some of the ways we torture ourselves:

Self-criticism

Self-blame

Self-deprecation (I’m not good enough)

Self-doubt

Self-deprivation (I’ll buy something good for someone else but cheap for myself)

Self-destructiveness

Self-pity

We all come from some form of dysfunctional family – that’s just the way life is.

All issues of self-love are related to our sense of our own value which is created very early on in life.

WHAT IS YOUR STORY OR THEME OF YOUR LIFE?

Neglect – physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual care, your best relationship was with the TV, an alcoholic parent or one on drugs, you were closer to your friend’s parents than your own, you felt no one cared about you?

Abandonment – literally abandoned, one of your parents died, you were not paid attention to, your parents worked too much and didn’t have time for you, did one of your parents disappear after divorce?

Abuse – sexually, physically, verbally, emotionally, abused, were you dismissed,

criticized, made fun of, were you called too sensitive, did you have narcissistic parents who thought more of themselves than they did of you?

Rejection – treated as if you didn’t exist, played 2nd fiddle to a sibling, ignored, did you feel your parents wished you weren’t born, felt left out of family situations?

Emotional Suffocation – overly protected by parents, did they insist on knowing your every move, loved more than your siblings, judged by all your actions?

Deprivation – grow up in poverty, deprived of physical or emotional contact or love, not have the basic necessities of life, did you grow up in a foster home?

LOVING OURSELVES IS THE GREATEST WORK WE WILL DO IN THIS LIFE

When we live compassionately, the sufferings of others doesn’t escape us. We feel them as if they were our own. Instead of avoiding, turning our heads from the pain another soul is bearing we step into their pain and respond to what they are going through. We feel for them. Compassion for others often precedes or displaces compassion for ourselves.

The basic reason for this is that we haven’t come to feel that our own sufferings are worthy of the great love and kindness we naturally extend to others. Our lives are so familiar to us that we can’t seem to step out and look at ourselves with compassion.  We dismiss our own pains and sorrows, saying, that was a long time ago, get over it, or that’s just the way I am.  We have lived with ourselves for so long; sometimes our sufferings are almost invisible to us.

The path to self-love is a long process. It takes actual steps to get there but it is not just the steps but the conscious steps we must take to get there. One has to consciously do all the things that are necessary to find our way to love ourselves.

We must speak up and say what we need, want and feel we deserve. We must act out – not just take action – but do things we never thought possible for us to do.

We must clear out the garbage we have carried around with us that no longer serves us. When our life is cluttered with self-judgment and self-destructiveness it’s hard to see our talents. When our heart is warped with self-pity and self-doubt, it is hard to find a way to love ourselves. When our body is compromised with chemical toxins and excessive weight by the lack of self-care, it is hard to be clear about who we really are and what we really want our lives to be.

Self-love is a choice. It is a moment by moment conscious turning away from that which will harm our spirit toward that which will nourish and sustain us. It is choosing, over and over again, whether we will treat ourselves well or beat ourselves up, whether we will deny our self or treat our self as lovingly as we would treat a child. Self-love is looking at ourselves with kindness and a conscious awareness of who we are. There is no more important gift we can give ourselves than to take the time, energy and passion to go deeply into our hearts and make a conscious decision to unclutter the garbage we brought to ourselves and to find the clarity that lets us look deep into our souls to see the wonderful person we truly are.

 HEART  TO  HEART

The Penny Friends is a rebirth, and revitalization of women  sharing, nurturing and adding value to other women’s lives.

At the Vancouver Peace Summit, 2009,  The Dalai Lama stated that  ”The World Will Be Saved By the Western Woman  With these words every woman should look deeply within themselves to find the source of her inspiration and understand that she honors real women whose relentless work continues day after day, irrespective of whether or not they’re in the limelight.

This, ladies, is what The Penny Friends is all about! We are here to honor, help, learn and grow from each other.  Women are stronger when they are connected to other women. Our strength is a beautiful gift we give to each other. Ideas and dreams are important ingredients to us and sometimes we lose them during everyday activities. This group is here to give us the freedom and support to explore and develop our ideas and dreams.

The morning for my sky dive arrived. My hopes and blog of yesterday were squashed. The weather is absolutely beautiful, therefore, I cannot blame it for keeping me home. Getting out of bed, I take deep breaths, and place my mind anywhere but where I am going.

The hour long drive is filled with conversation, so as not to dwell on the inevitable that lies ahead.  I realize that I am not afraid of dying or even getting hurt. All to well, I am aware of the fact that I am afraid of my own Fear.  ”The only thing to Fear is Fear itself,” so said Franklin D. Roosevelt. Thus, this is the first time I ever fully comprehended that quote. Yes, I Fear my own Fear.

Arrival at the Sky Ranch was a bit unnerving. Where do I go? What do I do? I arrive early and watch the first plane of jumpers go up.  Time now to handle the seven  page waiver with the repeated “you die, it’s on you” language, delivering an inescapable reality.

Something strange is happening to me. I do not feel the fear I thought I would. Perhaps my mind has gone into complete denial.  ”Time to suit up,” Eric, my instructor announces.  Do I really want to do this, I wonder?

As the plane climbs to an altitude of 13,500 feet, my instructor tells me that at 6,000  feet he will open the parachute.  That means for 7,500 feet, we will be free falling with no parachute. OMG! That is insanity. What does that feel like? I will very soon find out.

Eric tells me that I can pull the cord for the parachute. I decline worried I will not do it correctly or just forget what I am supposed to do.  We will be free falling at 120 miles per hour and dropping 200 feet per second. It is completely apparent to me that I have lost my mind.

We sit on a bench on the plane looking out the window as we rise slowly into the sky.  Strapped to my instructor, I ask him to make sure we are securely fastened. He assures me that we are.

Time has come ~ we cumbersomely push our way to the open door of the plane. Our bodies are vertical now, but not straight, as the plane’s ceiling is short.  We straddle like ducks to the doorway which is eagerly awaiting us.  We stand there getting ready to plummet two and a half miles to the ground. I do not look down. The photographer jumps. Geronimoooo we follow him.

Out the plane and falling is a curious, unexplainable sensation. All my senses are on overload.  It is impossible to come to grips with the incredible feeling of gravity and wind hitting my body. And there is a lot of noise. My mind kept saying, “What is happening?” Fear? not at all. I was so in the moment trying to come to grips with what was going on, there was no time for Fear. It is those moments I will never forget.

The parachute opened and there was a surreal, quiet silence. “Did I die and I am in Heaven?” No, I am floating in the big, beautiful sky with the sun shining on me and it feels divine.

After a perfect landing, I try to comprehend what I just did.  Driving home, I wonder, “Did I really sky dive from a plane?”

Arriving home, I quickly run in the door and race to my computer. I place the video into my laptop and feel euphoria. So this is what I did!! And I realize, if I can do that, I can accomplish anything.  And, I feel proud and strong and confident. The sky is the limit. The whole world just opened to me! I did it, fear and all !!!

Tomorrow I am going to jump from an airplane.

Yes, tomorrow I am going skydiving. I am saying this more to myself than to anyone reading this. This is an item on my bucket list. Many years ago, I wanted to do this. Everyone told me “NO don’t do it, you’ll get hurt or worse.” So ~ I did not do it.

However, tomorrow, I am taking the plunge, excuse the pun. My anxiety is very high. I have eaten everything in the house as if it were going to be the last food I would ever eat. I feel as if I am going to be sick, but I want to consume more. Yesterday, I came down with a cold ~ therefore telling myself ~ I can’t jump with a cold.

Today the cold seems to be gone yet my body aches. Well, of course, I can’t jump with everything hurting. It will only make it worse. And, it is windy out. I will probably end up in another state with this wind.

I moved from Florida to New York five years ago. Last week I made an appointment to change my will and trust made in Florida to the New York version. I have an appointment for Monday. Does that make sense, I ask myself? Shouldn’t I have the will in place before Saturday’s jump?

For a long time I have been telling myself, I need to clean out my car. Today, it seemed very important for me to do this. Seems I will do anything not to think about tomorrow.

Fear, I hear and feel you rolling around my mind and body and I am not liking it. I am doing this to get past my fears. Did I have to pick something so dramatic to conquer fear? Isn’t walking across the street in Manhattan scary enough?

Calling all Angels, I will be up there in the sky with you tomorrow!  Calming myself, I think of Angels surrounding me as I descend back to earth.

Actually, I have done hang gliding off Mt. Whistler in Canada. But that was different. I was just taking a tram ride up the mountain, casually walked over to the hut to get information about how hang gliding works. Before I knew it, I was signed up and OFF the mountain. It didn’t hurt that the instructor with me was a cutie :) And I loved the experience. Tomorrow will be the same, I tell myself. I am not believing it.

But tomorrow is different. I have too much time to think about it. I have watched the video of how to do it. The thought of standing at the edge of the airplane, and I don’t care if the instructor is a cutie, I am petrified. Clearly, I must be out of my mind.

A seven page wavier I printed off the sky dive website and the papers sit on the desk. These papers actually have the word “death” on them, saying I hold no one but myself responsible for my death. For certain, I have lost my marbles. My three children do not know about this. I do not want anyone to talk me out of it, yet, I am screaming inside for someone or something to give me an excuse not to jump.

Okay, enough. I will keep busy and pray for a thunderstorm or at the very least a tornado for tomorrow.  Ah, I feel better already. It is the weather’s fault that I can’t jump tomorrow, not mine.

To be continued…….

In the mornings, sometimes I like to sit in my dining room and read because the sun fills the room with it’s magnificence and energy.  While sitting there this morning, a robin has been flying into my sliding glass doors.

It is an amazing thing to watch.  Mr. Robin stands on the deck railing for a little while then takes off and flies into the door, hitting it two times, then back to the railing. I close the blinds thinking perhaps this would help him realize he cannot get in. Hearing the thumps on the door, I know he has not learned anything from this.  Opening and closing the blinds quickly does not deter him. So, I sit and watch his determination.

What is he trying to accomplish, I wonder?  For over an hour now of hitting the glass door, has he not caught on that he is only hurting his beak by the constant hitting into the window?  When does he finally understand that this exercise in futility is getting him no where?

Mr. Robin certainly has determination and what a wonderful trait that is.  As I sit here and watch Mr. Robin continually hit the glass doors, not being able to get  in the door, not getting any food or nourishment from this, I can’t help but wonder just what is he getting out of this?

It made me realize how determination, although it is a wonderful quality to have, when used improperly can actually hurt us. How many times have I been unconsciously determined to hurt my own psyche?  How many times have I tried to get someone to like me, tried to do something that was really beyond what I could do,  tried to help someone who does not want my help, how many times have I sat unconsciously determined to waste precious time on the internet when I could be using that time for doing something constructive, how many times have I worked on a relationship trying to get it to work but all the time knowing it couldn’t? All that negative determination is just self-sabotage.

As I continue to write, Mr. Robin is still hitting against the doors more and more furiously. He certainly has an agenda but what it is I can’t even try to imagine as I know nothing about birds. However, I do know a little bit about the human psyche.

Mr. Robin has made me realize that determination, which is a good thing, when used for something hopeless is an assault against our self-esteem and self-worth.  He has reminded and retaught me that sometimes you just have to let something go.  Instead of  using that wonderful trait of determination fighting for something that is not good for us, we should be using it towards something that will help build our self-worth and confidence.  We can activate that force to achieve our goals and dreams. That is the healthy way to utilize determination.

Two hours have gone by and Mr. Robin is still at it. I want to help him but I have no idea how to. Is his determination going to be what finally knocks him out? Why can’t he use this wonderful gift to do something good for himself,  like finding some food?

P.S. I left the dining room but kept going back to see if he was still there. I just had to know how long Mr. Robin was going to keep this up. He did this for four hours ! ??

There is no question we are now in unprecedented times! The changes and breaking down of the old structures in our lives that no longer serve us – both at a global and personal level – have escalated to intense proportions. Many are becoming “battle weary” as they try to hang on to what is thought to be their livelihood and protect all that they have worked for and built in their lives. And yet, no matter what is done to try and preserve the status quo, it’s a battle that can’t be won.

The Earth’s ascension (and all that are here to assist in this historical event) is gaining momentum big time and our roles within this are shifting to another level. It is very difficult to make sense of what many are going through, and yet, if we are committed to our Divine Blueprint for this lifetime, we must give up the struggle and know with every cell of our being that all will unfold with perfection. Actually, if we look back in our lives and what we have already “overcome”, we can see that it always does.

For the new to be born, the old must first fall away without exception. It is no different to when we were born into this physical world and had to first leave the safety and security of our mother’s womb in order to enter the next phase of our journey here on this planet. So there is naturally some pain and struggle associated with the birth of anything that is worthwhile. Our challenge is that we seem to be having difficulty in seeing what is coming and what is possible through the angst and stress of that which we are trying to preserve. It is like the unborn child trying to fight against the inevitable. It has no reference to what the new adventure it is entering and yet, it can’t stay in the old any longer. It’s just not possible!

So here we are once again, in that place of having to leave the safety and security of what we have come to know in this reality and venture head-on into the unknown. While many of us have an understanding of what is taking place, it is still challenging to watch and witness the old foundations of this reality crumble and the impact it has on us personally and many around us. It is even more painful when there is a lack of awareness of why it is happening and where we are going. Now that is scary to those who are locked into trying to control their lives and live from the place of attachment, resistance and judgement. But we now know it just does not serve anyone anymore and will only continue to create havoc in our lives.

There are many of us currently feeling out of control and struggling to come to terms with the breakdown of old relationships, jobs, our health and financial situations. So what are our options at this crucial time in our evolution? We must now relax into ourselves. Rest into love and enjoy the ride. The need of the hour is for us to detach from what we think we know, allow everything to unfold without resistance, and accept that the Divine Plan is in motion in the most perfect way. At this level it is out of our human hands, for our soul is in the driver’s seat. In the quiet space of love we will be guided and nurtured through the birthing process.

This is not how we are used to living our lives, so it will take practice and perseverance. What is being asked of us is simply to remember the truth of who we are and know we cannot find the answers to our questions in the outer world. All that we seek to understand is found in our ability to relax into our very being, that place within where we are all connected to the ocean of the All That Is. In the nurturing comfort of our inner sanctuary we are able to transcend the troubles and limitations of the exterior reality, giving all who go there the ability to feel and know the truth of what is happening. Our God Selves know exactly what our needs are and what our true purpose is, so let’s relax and allow all to unfold.

If we knew ahead of time with absolute certainty what was install for this planet and humanity in the coming years, then we might not hold on to what we already have so tightly. The notion that “all is perfect in all ways” can be a tough one to swallow when we see some of the things going on around us – yet it is so! Everything is serving a purpose, including the pain and suffering we are witnessing. In the Buddhist tradition, suffering is necessary to bring us closer to God, so on a collective level there are many who are still separated from their God Consciousness which in itself is where the pain and suffering emerges. Hence, we are still seeing this manifest on the world stage.

As light workers and way showers our purpose is very clear in that we must hold the space of love from within. We must also remain in a place of detached compassion and know all is unfolding perfectly for each and every soul and our beloved planet. We are to light the path for others to see what is possible – not with words, for all the words have been spoken – but with our heart and soul and the very essence of who we are. We have volunteered to enter the birth canal before the masses and lead by example. We are becoming as the Ascended Masters before us and recognizing ourselves in each other and rising above the material realm. We are coming to understand that no matter what is crumbling down in our personal lives and those around us, we can and must find solace by relaxing into ourselves and trust, trust, trust. From that sacred place we know without a doubt that all is perfect and will be revealed in the perfect timing.

Be still, relax into yourself and rest, for love will show the way.

A thought to share
… a friend just finished taking an evening class at Stanford. The last lecture was on the mind-body connection–the relationship between stress and disease. The speaker (head of psychiatry at Stanford) said, among other things, that one of the best things that a man could do for his health is to be married to a woman whereas for a woman, one of the best things she could do for her health was to nurture her relationships with her girlfriends. At first everyone laughed, but he was serious.

Women connect with each other differently and provide support systems that help each other to deal with stress and difficult life experiences. Physically this quality “girlfriend time” helps us to create more seratonin–a neurotransmitter that helps combat depression and can create a general feeling of well being. Women share feelings whereas men often form relationships around activities. They rarely sit down with a buddy and talk about how they feel about certain things or how their personal lives are going. Jobs? Yes. Sports? Yes. Cars? Yes. Fishing, hunting, golf? Yes. But their feelings?–rarely. Women do it all of the time. We share from our souls with our sisters, and evidently that is very good for our health. He said that spending time with a friend is just as important to our general health as jogging or working out at a gym.

There’s a tendency to think that when we are “exercising” we are doing something good for our bodies, but when we are hanging out with friends, we are wasting our time and should be more productively engaged–not true. In fact, he said that failure to create and maintain quality personal relationships with other humans is as dangerous to our physical health as smoking! So every time you hang out to shmooze with a gal pal, just pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for doing something good for your health! We are indeed very very lucky. Sooooo let’s toast to our friendship with our girlfriends. Evidently it’s very good for our health.

There’s something in the air. It’s a gut feeling. An inkling, a hunch. I can feel it in my bones. I can feel in my ‘water’. I’ve got a funny feeling about this. It’s just doesn’t FEEL right somehow.

Darn it.
Why oh why didn’t I listen to myself? Now look what’s happened!
If only I’d listened.
But what if I had listened and I’d been wrong?
How silly would I have looked then?
Would anyone have listened anyway?
Well they’ll listen now but it’s too late now.
Oh why didn’t I trust myself?
OK. I am going to really listen next time.
I’m going to trust my own gut, my own intuition.
But how do I do that?
How can I make sure I don’t miss the cues next time?
How can I be sure it’s my intuition and not my mind, or fear, or ego blah blah blah?
Oh I just want to KNOW for sure what to do!!

Sound familiar?

Don’t worry. You aren’t alone in this. I’ve been there too and I hear from hundreds of others in the same boat. Along the way I have learned how to boost my intuitive power and help many others do the same. I am happy to share those tips and tools with you now

  1. Grounding – Having a good energy link to the Earth is like your electrical appliances at home having a good, safe earthing connection. It allows the current to flow through your hair straighteners for example, making them work effectively. The same goes for you. Having your own current of vital energy flowing freely through you from The Divine/God/Source/The Creator and down into the earth creates a river of energy and information in which flows your inner knowing. When you are UNgrounded you get stuck in your head and this blocks intuition. Grounding brings you down into your body and your heart wisdom. 15 minutes of barefoot contact with natural earth (soil, grass, sand, rock etc) can be transformational on many levels, and it’s totally free
  2.  Stillness – The hurry, worry and mental chatter of the surface mind makes too much noise to be able to hear the subtle whispers of your heart’s knowing. So take some time every day, 5 minutes will do, to get still and quiet and go into yourself. Sit quietly with your eyes closed and simply focus on the sound, feeling and motion of your breath flowing in and out. If your mind wanders that’s normal, gently guide it back to your breath. This helps to shift your inner state even when you are not in stillness, making it easier to hear your inner-tuition.
  3. Journal – Noting down any intuitive nudges you get is a great way of building TRUST in your intuition. This is one of the main stumbling blocks to having powerful intuition; not trusting your own inner guidance. So write everything down in a private journal, no one will see it, it is just for you to practice listening and writing down any inner nudges. Over time you’ll see that many will come true, you will be proven right and this will build your confidence. You’ll also start to see patterns in which ones came true and which ones didn’t. You will learn how your intuitive nudges vary and what that means for you. Your own intuitive language is unique to you. Journaling helps you learn that language.
  4. Heart Breathing – Your Heart Chakra or energy centre in the middle of your chest is your main intuitive ‘receiver’. To amplify its power as a receiver and transmitter of intuitive wisdom you can boost its energy by breathing into it. When you wish to ‘tune into’ an issue or question in your life to get answers, start with Heart Breathing as part of your preparation – Hold the question gently in your awareness, close your eyes and take 10 deep, gentle breaths in and out of your heart centre. Feel its pink and emerald energy expanding to fill your whole body. Bring the issue or question forward into your awareness and wait for answers. Focus on the breathing and see what happens. Let yourself drift off, that is where answers come.
  5. Discernment – How do you know if it’s your head or your heart coming up with the answers? Well, your head will usually be analysing details, coming up with questions, obstacles, ‘what ifs’, ‘yes buts’ and so on. Your heart speaks through feelings. For a YES for example your heart answer may come as feelings of expansion, warm tingles and excited feelings. Details from the heart come as soft floating daydreams, transparent images fluttering into your awareness then floating away as soon as you focus on them. A NO from your heart may feel cooler, like a contraction, pulling down and away. The head gets busy with details whilst the heart intuition speaks in feelings and deeper knowings.
  6. Listen to your body – Get used to listening to any sensations, symptoms or rhythms in your body. Your body is way smarter than you so pay attention to what it is telling you. This is an essential part of boosting intuitive power and helps you stay present and grounded.

   The Train of Life

Some folks ride the train of life

Looking out the rear,

Watching miles of life roll by,
And marking every year.

They sit in sad remembrance,
Of wasted days gone by,
And curse their life for what it was,
And hang their head and cry.

But I don’t concern myself with that,
I took a different vent,
I look forward to what life holds,
And not what has been spent.

So strap me to the engine,
As securely as I can be,
I want to be out on the front,
To see what I can see.

I want to feel the winds of change,
Blowing in my face,
I want to see what life unfolds,
As I move from place to place.

I want to see what’s coming up,
Not looking at the past,
Life’s too short for yesterdays,
It moves along too fast.

So if the ride gets bumpy,
While you are looking back,
Go up front, and you may find,
Your life has jumped the track.

It’s all right to remember,
That’s part of history,
But up front’s where it’s happening,
There’s so much mystery.

The enjoyment of living,
Is not where we have been,
It’s looking ever forward,
To another year and ten.

It’s searching all the byways,
Never should you refrain,
For if you want to live your life,
You gotta drive the train.

One of my favorite things I love to do is Dance.

I believe the act of dancing, either mentally or physically, can open up channels of energy which we never knew existed. It enhances our soul, our ability to let go and watch life happen. In feeling the freedom of dance, our soul will touch the spark of imagination. With or without a partner we can reach the stars.

And, if we put our mind to it, anything is possible in this life. We just have to visualize it happening the way we want it and live that dream. It is OK to change our minds. Maybe if we begin to focus on life differently, we will notice the changes that make our lives better. ~~As the song goes,, “I hope you Dance!” It will make your life better.

I have decided that, for now, my heaven is here on earth!!

Many clients ask about how to improve their current relationships or find a new love in their life. Since the feng shui of your home mirrors every aspect of your life, it makes sense to see how your feng shui is impacting your love life.

First, I always tell my clients that feng shui accounts for one-third of your luck in any area. The other two-thirds: Heaven chi is your birth luck or your astrology; and Earth chi is your behavior and actions. Good feng shui can help poor astrology, but your actions speak louder than words! So make sure that you are living with integrity, good intentions and perform good deeds for others.

Second, let’s look at clutter. Clutter will create stagnant chi in any area of life. Clutter at your door blocks good, positive chi and opportunities from flowing in. Clutter in the hall creates stagnation throughout the house. And of course, clutter in the bedroom, well, you get the drift! Then, we look at the Romance area of your home. Romance is the back right third of your home. Make sure this space is clutter-free!

Third, let’s review your bedroom. What is the size of your bed? Can you get into the bed from both sides? Is there enough room for a partner to enter the bed? How do you feel when you enter your bedroom? Tired or inspired? Do you do work there? Are undone projects piled up? Are there family photos displayed? (Remove them!) Pay some attention to this room. Make it a beautiful space for relaxation and intimacy.

Fourth, what is the symbolism around your home? Is it welcoming in relationships or preventing them? It is amazing what we bring into our homes and what it means to our inner state of mind and how it will affect our lives.

For example, one client asked me to help with her marriage. After a time of trying to work through their differences with each other, they had finally gone the traditional route of marriage counseling, but to no avail. When I surveyed their property, I noticed that the property line sliced through the “Partnership/Romance” area, cutting most of it out. In addition, the room in their house that represented “Partnership/Romance” was unusable because it was filled with clutter – the husband’s clutter! And if that wasn’t enough, their master bedroom was symbolically disconnected from the rest of the house. Their relationship was weakened by the lack of support in the property, the positioning of the bedroom and was stuck (clutter in Romance). Once I gave them cures for each of these areas things started moving in the right direction.

A workshop participant provided some details about her current failing relationship. She felt that they really drifted apart; no longer had common interests. We talked about symbolism and when she went home she sent an email immediately. She looked at the Romance area of their bedroom and it was filled with her boyfriend’s clutter. In that corner was a nightstand with three photographs: one photo was of her, one was of him and between them was a photo of the Grand Canyon!

Using a Feng Shui consultant in your home or workspace will help create awareness of how your current challenges are linked to your environment. You can then make Feng Shui adjustments to improve the energy. Or, better yet, use a consultant when you are ready to find the most harmonious home or workspace, freeing you to move beyond any barriers!

Several years ago while visiting family in Colorado, I woke up early; still being on Eastern time.  As I sat alone in my brother’s living room in the silence of dawn, I was surrounded by a spectacular view of the snow capped mountains.  With nothing else to do and hours before others would awaken, I picked up the newspaper lying next to me.  An investing/ business newspaper- oh, yuck! At the time, that was definitely not my idea of good reading.

I don’t have the background one normally associates with business or investing.  I never had any interest in business, finance or economics.  My experience was working with children, spiritual teachers/ healers, holistic health, nature and multi-culturalism.  In fact, I was somewhat anti-business- typical of my friends who were health conscious, environmentally aware and following some sort of spiritual practice.

I was especially involved in working with difficult and challenged kids.  My college degree is in elementary and environmental education.  My expertise was working in wilderness environments with some of the most abused and neglected kids who felt they were worthless and unlovable.  I worked with truly amazing teachers; both the kids themselves and professional staff.  We patiently worked together, step by step, transforming old sabotaging behavior into achievement.  I learned success does not come as a sudden revolution; but a quiet, determined, steady process of evolution.

Back to my brother’s living room, little did I know of my own evolution in that moment; sitting alone, in silence, a triumphant dawn all around me with nothing to do, but read this peculiar business newspaper.  I picked it up and put it down several times.  I finally opened it.  There on page 3, my entire life was taking an inconspicuous turn.

Every day, there is an article dedicated to the story of a successful person.  Because of my inexperience and judgement of business and the stock market, I assumed this column would primarily feature wealthy businessmen. Over time, I learned this publication defines success the way I define it; as any person who contributes to the health and well-being of life.  I have read inspiring stories of men, women, all races, artists, dancers, entrepreneurs, CEO’s, religious leaders, all throughout history and throughout the globe.  The people are so different; yet the story of success is always the same.  Every purposeful journey goes through deep, difficult challenges where we face our fears and false illusions. By shifting our perception, we can ignite the spark within us and connect to the support around us.

I have subscribed to this paper for several years now.  I am a profitable personal investor and teach a free monthly class.  I’m especially good at reading stock charts because the pattern of transformation is the same; whether it’s an emerging business, child or butterfly.

As I read the daily article on The 10 Steps to Success, I could just as easily be listening to my Yoga guru, my Native American Grandmother or business coach.  Whether you are running a family or a corporation, concentrating on meditation or a potential sale, remember the basics of sustainable success:

Be honest and authentic.

Balance work and play.

Keep learning.

Take risks.

Surround yourself with inspiration.

Give big value.

Receive all you’re worth.

Take care of your physical body.

Appreciate those close to you the most.

Enjoy your life.
